About Us

Hello and welcome to the Blighty banking project.
We are a microcredit banking project. The term 'microcredit' sounds a little bit boring. However, in practice micro finance is anything but boring. Microfinance empowers people through giving them money. People who have no assets and would be deemed 'uncreditworthy' by our traditional banks are the people we lend money to. Our 'for profit' business is the technology group of companies (www.blightygroup.com). Every month we give a percentage of our profits to the Blighty bank. Who lend it straight to the women who need it most.
Instead of thinking 'oh these people are poor and have no assets so we can't lend to them' Blighty bank thinks the opposite. We think 'oh these people are poor - but we can trust them because they have never been trusted by anyone before. So that means they will really value our trust in them' And so we give them money and help create their own small businesses. Simple and hightly effective.
Our bank is in rural south India. Please read this site to learn more about our banking project. If you are feeling adventurous please go ahead and start your own bank! Its not a hard as you may think. And its good fun. You are sure to feel a massive sense of satisfaction when you go and visit a small (but thriving) business that you have helped create. There is no doubt about that. You will also have a bond with your loaness and feel great that you have helped them follow their own dreams. Then you will see and feel the power of microcredit.
Please feel free to pop in and visit our Banking Project in Guntur, India. It will be our pleasure to meet you.
Oh and go ahead and start your own bank - it will be best decision you ever made!
Our principles :
- We believe that lending money to people empowers them to help themselves. We think that banks which only lend to those people with assets are missing a chance to uplift those that need it most. We think that big traditional capitalist banks are annoyingly selfish and useless organisations. They have the power to do so much more but waste time betting on derivatives of sub prime mortgages bla bla bla.
- We believe that EVERY big bank in the world should have its own microcredit department. Bar none. There is no excuse for them to just concentrate on profit 100%.
- We believe that contrary to accepted belief - people with no assets are viable and attractive customers/loanees.
- We believe that we can help people help themselves by lending them money
- We beleive that people want to help themselves. They dont want charity. They want a fair chance. A chance to show what they can do in this crazy capitalist system of ours.
- We believe that governments and charities do their best ibut are hindered by their own inherent weaknesses. We believe that microfinance businesses are a more effective method.
- We believe that this is a successful self sufficient business model ie we empower people and make money ourselves which we can then re invest to help more people. Everybody wins. Win win win. Happy days.
- We believe that by applying this business model (all over the world) we can make a damn good attempt at ending poverty. Its not as hard as everyoe thinks. Just needs some effort and coordination. Starting with those big banks creating their own micro credit divisions.
We hope that you will use this site to learn about microfinance before attempting your own microfinance programme. We have calculated that if 2500 people raise 4000 (UK pounds) each and create their own successful microfinance programme then we will lift 1 000 000 people out of poverty.

Microfinance is a movement that empowers and uplifts individuals who otherwise do not have a chance to compete in the capitalist society that we live in. It is a business that grows organically and leaves a trail of goodness in its wake.....
It is a great help and encouragement for me to see your drive and determination. I am setting up my own banking project and so your site is a good source of advice for me.
In some organisations, managers and leaders fall into the trap of believing that financial management is something that the accounts.....
